S. Ute Tribe
Instructions for Employment Process
The Southern Ute Indian Tribe has developed a standardized process
for fair and consistent hiring practices. Please review this process
outlined below.
- All Permanent Fund positions are advertised for a minimum of 10
working days.
- Applications must be submitted no later than the closing date for
the position.
- Applications must include a complete work history and criminal
history.
- A screening committee reviews the applications and selects
applicants to be interviewed based on the minimum qualifications and
TERO preference. All applicants will receive a letter in the mail
explaining the selection committee's decisions regarding who was
selected for an interview.
- After the interviews are conducted the committee selects a
candidate for the position based on qualifications, interview scores,
and TERO preference.
- Only qualified applicants will be selected as determined by an
evaluation of their education, experience, ability to perform the job
and pass the pre-employment background checks.
- A Human Resource (HR) Generalist contacts the selected applicant to
begin background checks, which include criminal history, reference
checks and pre-employment drug testing. Other pre-employment tests may
be included as deemed appropriate for the position.
- Once all background checks are completed, the Hiring Department, HR
Department, and the Executive Office review and approve the hiring of
the applicant. The HR Generalist then contacts the applicant for the
pre-employment drug test.
- When the HR Department receives a negative drug test result the HR
Generalist will contact the applicant to determine a starting date.
- The new employee must complete all new hire paperwork in the HR
Department prior to working.
All enrolled Southern Ute Indian Tribal Members and other Native
Americans are encouraged to attach a TERO referral notice to their
application. These notices are available at the TERO office. If you have
questions regarding our recruitment process, please call one of our HR
Generalists at 970-563-0100, Extension 2421 or 2445.
Thank you for your interest in working for the Southern Ute Indian
Tribe.
